Yukon North Slope Conference

One of our commitments under the Inuvialuit Final Agreement is the Yukon North Slope Conference. While this gathering originally occurred on an annual basis, the Council has since moved to host the Conference every five years. Attendees come from myriad backgrounds, including Indigenous organizations across Canada, various levels of government, land users and knowledge holders, and private sector representatives - this diversity makes for excellent discussion and idea sharing!

Topics range widely and aim to further our collective understanding of complex and dynamic issues relating to the land, wildlife, and people of the Yukon North Slope. Most recent Conference discussions delved into themes like offshore development, environmental monitoring, Arctic innovations, and Indigenous Traditional Knowledge in wildlife management.

Our next conference will be held in Whitehorse in January 2025! More to details to come.
